The Ocean Floor

There's a little brown cabin
on the ocean floor
with a door made of oak
and a darkwood floor
it has a roof made of linen
swaying with the ocean's tide
and inside lives a man
who's been lost in time
there's red coral
and brown white stone
sunken treasures among the reef
but the ship has long gone
everyday he goes out to hunt
a spear in hand, muscles tense
the search for it
once more begins
he had it once
but it got away
now he's determined
to force its stay
a blade with hooks
makes it a certainty
one day he'll succeed
fate must give in, most certainly
but the floor's inhabitants
how they all know
what he is after
is always one to go
he's lost to his unknown
with no one there to tell him
that the thing he is after
has drowned from within.
