Old Coals

This heart burns hot on coals
it runs and runs and runs and runs
it runs to fly and runs to hide
this heart is young but feels so old

It travels swift across land and sea
it roams and roams and roams and roams
and leaves behind a trace of hope
for strangers seen and strangers met

This burden is a heavy stone
it weighs and weighs and weighs and weighs
it brings a wall to come crashing down
from under the rubble a ruin is found
